2014-05-02 19h13: Began experiment with 10V supply, 100ml of 0.1 molarity solution (NH4)2SO4, 3.028g piece of graphite partially submerged in solution connected to anode, 90%/10% Pt/Ir wire 26AWG 5cm long connected to cathode and submerged in solution. 2014-05-02 19h43: Raised supply voltage to 15V. 2014-05-02 20h51: 1mm of black deposit in vessel. Solution opacity increased. Graphite anode visibly eroded and flaking. Observed insect in exfoliation vessel. 2014-05-02 20h59: Despite careful removal and brief rinsing with tap water, insect shows no sign of life, even after drying. 2014-05-02 21h21: Yellow-white deposit/crystal observed on anode. 2014-05-02 22h03: Water level depleted. Refilled to line of erosion on anode. 2014-05-03 00h16: Repeated refill process. 2014-05-03 01h19: Repeated refill process. 2014-05-03 01h32: Crystal/deposit no longer present, likely dissolved during refill. 2014-05-03 02h05: Repeated refill process. 2014-05-03 03h04: Crystal/deposit reformed. 2014-05-03 03h44: Observable growth of dark substance on Pt/Ir wire, current down 50% (arbitrary units). 2014-05-03 04h39: Repeated refill process. 2014-05-03 13h02: Cut power, anode mostly exfoliated. Visible deopisit on cathode. 2014-05-03 14h29: Removed cathode with unknown deposit, allowed to dry. Removed and rinsed anode for later dry weighing. 2014-05-03 14h47: Diluted to glass capacity (300ml +/- 75ml), covered to allow settling at room temperature and to prevent contamination. 2014-05-04 18h21: Final graphite anode mass: 0.985g 2014-05-04 20h54: Poured off most liquid, refilled for settling. 2014-05-07 02h35: Poured off most liquid, refilled for settling. 2014-05-07 15h30: Removed carbon rod from leclanche cells, "New Leader" brand. Washed with soap, set out to dry. 2014-05-07 15h50: Cut paper into strips, manually shredded in minimum water to cover strips, mixed with exfoliation product. 2014-05-07 16h22: Product is now drying. 2014-05-10 14h05: Added more paper product to achieve more pulpy consistency. 2014-05-10 15h00: Constructed capacitor from carbon rods, exfoliated graphite/cellulose pulp, NaCl (contaminated with iodine). Used notebook paper and hot-melt glue to construct separators for two carbon electrodes surrounded by exfoliated graphite/cellulose. 2014-05-10 15h26: Tested by charging to 2.2V and attempting to light an LED with stored charge. No visible lighting of LED. 2014-05-10 15h35: Tested by charging to 2.2V and measuring capacitor voltage with 10MOhm voltmeter.
