As Promised - Tutorials

I have posted below instructions for earwires used in earring saving you money, it is also very quick and easy to make.It is always a very good idea to practice with copper wire which is what I have used in the tutorials your comments, suggestions are welcome.

Handmade earwires

Materials (pictured below) needed:

20 guage wire
Round nose pliers
Flush cutters
Ruler or tape measure
Pen, mandrel, dowel, lipstick, mascara or marker for larger earwires.

The pliers with the blue handle are actually not the standard pliers, they are my personal favorite four in one which I carry around with me.

See below for pictures with step by step instructions.

Cut 5cm of wire, then orm a loop as pictured above using round nose pliers.

Next wrap the wire around a pen or object of your choice.

Take up the round nose again, bend the wire at the tip to give it a sort of flat look, make a second wire once finished hammer both if you wish. Now you are ready to attach to attach your earwires to your bead units.

Finished earwire attached to bead unit, beware it is addictive.
Tip: Make as many earwires you can in advance.

Large earwire.

This is an example of an earwire using a marker, like I stated before you can use any object. Please let me know how you got on, if possible send pictures of your work. The next tutorial will be on clasps which I may have to post at different times.

If you are stuck for where to buy your beading items, here are a few suggestions.

Online, your local, DIY (for tools) craft or bead shops. The best sites if you live in the UK are:
Beads Direct, Just Beads, Mad Cow Beads, Robin's beads, Ebay or international sites.

For those in the US I can suggest:
Ship Wreck, Fire Gem Mountains, Aunties Beads, Jewelry Supply. I am sure there are many other sites for you guys as you have more supplies than the rest of us.

I am sorry I have got no suggestions for those in Europe, you will have to check your local directory or online search engines.

Please let me know how you got on, if possible send pictures of your work. The next tutorial will be on clasps which I may have to post at different times so as not to overwhelm you.

Msking your own ear wires is an excellent idea! It's actually quite fun to do. Thanks for encouraging everyone to do so with your tutorial.
